Megan and Matt’s wedding at Cider Mill Barn was a relaxed and joyful celebration filled with family, countryside surroundings and plenty of fun. From the groom and his groomsmen attempting to build the wedding cake in the morning to croquet during the drinks reception and plenty of dancing later in the evening, their wedding day was full of personality and genuine moments.
Megan spent the morning getting ready in the bridal suite with her mum and bridesmaids. The atmosphere was full of excitement as everyone prepared for the ceremony, with plenty of time for photographs of the bridal party getting ready together.
Meanwhile, Matt and his groomsmen had been given an important morning task - building the wedding cake! Thankfully, their DIY cake-building mission went remarkably well, giving us some brilliant photographs and a fun story to remember from the morning.
Megan’s mum helped her into her wedding dress before we captured a lovely reveal with her bridesmaids. It was a beautiful moment as everyone saw Megan ready for the first time, with the excitement building before the ceremony.
Megan’s mum then had the incredibly special honour of walking her down the aisle. The ceremony was full of emotion and celebration, and as soon as it came to an end, there was a real sense of excitement from everyone as Megan and Matt began their married life together.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds led their guests outside into the gardens for their confetti celebration. It was a brilliant way to start the drinks reception, with everyone getting involved and creating plenty of natural moments for photographs.
During the drinks reception, we captured the formal family photographs while guests enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. There was also a game of croquet taking place, which provided some fantastic opportunities for candid wedding photography. From competitive shots to guests enjoying themselves between drinks, it added another fun element to the afternoon.
After the wedding breakfast, we took Megan and Matt away for another short couples photo shoot. This gave them some time together away from the reception while allowing us to capture some photographs in the changing light and atmosphere of the venue.
The evening celebrations began with the cutting of the wedding cake and Megan and Matt’s first dance. Once the formalities were over, the dance floor quickly filled with their guests and the party got properly underway.
From a surprisingly successful wedding cake construction project and an emotional ceremony to garden confetti, croquet and a packed dance floor, Megan and Matt’s Cider Mill Barn wedding was relaxed, personal and full of laughter.
It was a wonderful example of how the best wedding photographs often come from simply allowing the day to unfold naturally - capturing the people, personalities and little moments that make each wedding completely unique.
