Fran and Dan’s wedding in Shrewsbury was a wonderfully personal day filled with happy tears, family, beautiful Shropshire surroundings and one very special announcement. From getting ready in their newly renovated home to walking through The Quarry and photographs on the River Severn, their wedding was a brilliant example of how a city wedding can incorporate some of the most beautiful parts of Shrewsbury.
Fran got ready at home with her bridal party, in a house that had quite literally just been finished. The renovation had only been completed the week before the wedding, making it particularly special to be able to capture Fran getting ready in their brand-new home before heading to the ceremony.
The couple were married at St Chad’s Church in the heart of Shrewsbury. The ceremony was already filled with emotion, but right at the end the Vicar surprised everyone with an announcement that Fran and Dan were expecting their first baby. It was an incredible moment to witness, and the reaction from their family and friends made it even more memorable.
After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside St Chad’s Church for confetti before we took some relaxed family photographs in the church grounds. Rather than keeping the couple away from their guests for a long period, we then headed on foot through Shrewsbury with Fran and Dan and their wedding party.
The Quarry provided the perfect backdrop for photographs, including some time in The Dingle and around the iconic Port Hill Bridge. Walking through Shrewsbury gave the photographs a real sense of place and allowed us to capture Fran and Dan enjoying some time together away from the busyness of the day.
From The Quarry, the wedding party made their way towards Pengwern Boat Club, situated on the banks of the River Severn. Before heading into the reception, we took Fran and Dan out onto the pontoon for another short couples photo shoot. With the river surrounding them, it was a beautiful and relaxed setting for some photographs of the newlyweds.
The reception took place in a marquee at Pengwern Boat Club, where everyone came together for the speeches and wedding breakfast. The atmosphere was full of celebration, with the excitement of the day’s surprise announcement adding an extra reason for everyone to raise a glass.
As the meal and speeches came to an end, the marquee transformed into the setting for the evening celebrations. Fran and Dan joined their guests on the dance floor, bringing their Shrewsbury wedding day to a lively and joyful close.
From their newly renovated home and emotional ceremony at St Chad’s Church to confetti, The Quarry, The Dingle and sunset photographs on the River Severn, Fran and Dan’s wedding was relaxed, meaningful and unmistakably Shrewsbury.
